The Z Casino was one of the first casinos in Black Hawk, previously known as Bullwhackers Casino. The rename happened in 2014 after CC Gaming LLC brought the casino and wanted it aligned with its other two Colorado Casinos: Johnny Z’s Casino and The Grand Z Casino. As of late 2019, all three casinos were bought by Maverick Gaming LLC.
The casino today is home to over 400 slot machines and 6 table games and should be releasing a sportsbook soon. The Club Z loyalty program also boasts many rewards and is extended across all three Z Group Casinos for even more places to earn points and claim bonuses.

Casino Games
The Z Casino is home to over 400 slots and video machines. While you will find classic reels, they are famous for having the newest and hottest games, often arriving daily. They also offer the rarer video Craps, Blackjack, and Roulette.
You can also play table games at the casino in their Z-Spot pit area, but this is only open from Thursday through to Sunday and on holidays. Their tables mainly cover Blackjack, but you will also find tables of Craps and Three-Card Poker. Staff have a reputation for being friendly and providing great service. Unfortunately, there is no poker room or tables offering Texas Hold’Em or other varieties. For top poker action, try heading to the Ameristar Casino or the Isle Casino in Black Hawk.
Casino Loyalty Program
The Z Casino shares its loyalty program with its sister casinos: the Grand Z Casino Hotel and Johnny Z’s Casino. The membership program is called Club Z and it is free to join. All new sign-ups will receive up to $100 free play known as Z-Play to spend in the Z Casino.
Once a member you are entitled to monthly promotions, hotel and dining offers, point multipliers, and more Z-Play. They also offer free breakfasts and free prime rib dinners if you earn 50 or 100 points per day, respectively. You can claim offers and rewards by exchanging membership points earnt through playing at any of the Z Group Casinos. The more points, the more prizes you can unlock and take home.
Sportsbook Services
Colorado has now made sports betting legal, and as of 1st May 2020, residents can legally bet on all their favorite sports teams. In order to do so, each operator must receive special licensing. The Z Casino, along with sister casinos Grand Z Casino and Johnny Z Casino, had their master licenses approved back in April 2020, and so can legally offer sportsbook services. However, at present these have not yet been launched. Nevertheless, Maverick Gaming LLC has expressed an interest in releasing sports betting, and we shall probably see these be released in the near future.
Dining and Bars
There are two restaurants at the Z Casino: Mustang Grill and Z Café:
- Mustang Grill: Open 8am – 9pm Sunday to Thursday and until 11pm Friday and Saturday. On their menu, you will find soups and salads, burgers, sandwiches, all-day breakfasts, and their famous prime ribs & steaks.
- Z Café: For a more relaxed quick bite, head to Z Café. Choose from deli sandwiches, pizza, and ice cream. They also serve a range of Starbucks coffees.
There are also two bars at the Z Casino, but for real entertainment take a short five-minute drive up to the Grand Z Casino. They have an infamous entertainment space called the Mile High Room which features a range of exciting live acts on Friday and Saturday evenings. They also have a dancefloor and lots of TVs to watch your favorite sports at any time of day.
Online Gambling
It is illegal in Colorado to play any form of online casino gambling for real money, including internet slots and video poker, table games, and online poker. The Z Casino does, therefore, not offer any online casino gambling options.
As of 1st May 2020, online sports gambling is legal and several online sites and mobile apps have launched. However, while the Z Casino has obtained its master license, it has yet to roll out any online sportsbook. There have been no reports on partnerships with online operators to launch an online sports gambling site as of yet.
