Johnny Z’s Casino has been passed around a fair bit. Originally, the building opened in the 1990s as the Central Palace Casino. In 2010, CC Gaming LLC brought the property and after a $5.5 million refurbishment reopened the casino Johnny Z’s Casino. Maverick Gaming LLC then took over in September 2019, also purchasing the Grand Z Casino in Central City and the Z Casino in Black Hawk, making the operator a significant contender in Colorado’s gambling market.
Today, Johnny Z’s Casino is a slot-only casino offering over 330 slot machines, two dining options, and a shared loyalty program with its sister casinos. What is more, if you want table games and a hotel, the Grand Z Casino is only just down the road.

Johnny Z’s Casino is a slot-only casino which is home to over 330 slot and video poker machines. Over 100 of these slots are penny machines so there is plenty of choice for even the more frugal gambler. You will find a selection of the newest and more modern bonus-packed games, down to classic old-style reels. The casino also houses the rare video blackjack, video craps, and video roulette. However, there are not table games on offer. If you want to play the real deal, head to the Grand Z Casino. Club Z is the loyalty membership program used by Johnny Z’s Casino which it shares with its two sister properties: Grand Z Casino and Z Casino. It is free to become a member; simply ask to signup on your next visit. New members receive up to $100 complimentary free play known as Z Play to spend in their casino. What is more, once a member you will earn points every time you play the slots in the casino and will be given exclusive offers, point multipliers, and giveaways. The more points you earn, the larger the rewards.
As all three Z Group Casinos share the Club Z loyalty program, points can be earnt and spent in any of the properties. Sportsbook Services
Sports gambling is now legal in Colorado. This is a recent change in legislation, with sportsbooks legally being launched as of 1st May 2020. However, Johnny Z’s Casino has yet to release a sportsbook onsite or online, nor have they announced any plans to do so. The casino operator, Maverick Gaming LLC, has expressed an interest in rolling out sports betting services across the three Z Casino properties and has obtained master licenses for all three properties. Therefore, we can expect to see these services launching in the coming future.
Dining and Bars
There is one restaurant at Johnny Z’s Casino named The Z Grill. They are open from 8am every morning and serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a sit-down restaurant. On the menu, you will find burgers, sandwiches, prime ribs, and steaks. If you are a member of Club Z, you can also bag yourself a free prime rib dinner by clocking 100 points that day in the casino.
Alongside the restaurant, there is also a café called Z Café which serves grab ‘n go food. If you cannot bear miss any action, come and grab a deli sandwich, pizza, or hotdog and be back playing slots within minutes. It is the perfect place for a quick bite.
There is also a bar on-site for you to get soft and alcoholic beverages, but for real entertainment take a trip to the Grand Z Casino five minutes down the road. They have a huge entertainment room called the Mile High Room renowned for its impressive casino weekend performances, live music, and comedy acts.
Online Gambling
While gambling at brick-and-mortar casinos in Colorado is legal, all forms of online casino gambling for real money is not. For this reason, Johnny Z’s Casino does not offer any form of online slots for players. Any sites that you do find claiming to offer trustworthy and legitimate internet casino gambling from inside the Centennial State are illegitimate.
On the other hand, online sportsbooks are legal in Colorado as of 1st May 2020. However, Johnny Z’s Casino has yet to partner with an online operator and launch internet sports betting.
